Leaf Change?

Time01 Oct 02, 2009 10:08 PM

Ok it is the 2nd of October the days are shorter and it is getting cooler. Our grass is green and lush and the trees have not even to begin changing colors. Am I rushing the season or are the trees late. LOL

I like to pile the leaves up and toss them in the air for the dogs to play with.

Well, Cheryl the Dogwood Tree on my front lawn has changed and is dropping its leaves. My Oak Tree is dropping green leaves loaded with acorns and is making a mess. LOL I have a forest of trees across the road from me and I see only a few small patches of brown here and there. I don't know if it's due to all the rain we've had or the warmer than usual temps...probably a combination of both. Right now it looks like it's going to pour rain...so what else is new. I think Katie knows this and is still upstairs fast asleep in her bed. LOL

I finally had to go upstairs and wake the queen up. It's so dark here I think she thinks that it's still night. LOL I wake her by walking around in the room making a lot of noise. It certainly doesn't look like we're going to spend much time outside today.

Never mind Katie, Cheryl. I'd like to hibernate for the winter. LOL I remember a time when I use to pray for a big snowstorm....not anymore.

We drive in our main town park at least every other day and most of the trees there have not started to turn yet. There is one that we can see from our house that is always the first to turn and it has only a tinge of brown in a few of the top branches. And the grass just keeps growing. Very strange!

It is strange, Gary that the trees seem to be late changing. A couple of real cold nights will change that I'm sure. Actually, I'm not looking forward to them falling either. Then, they all have to be picked up and bagged. My town, in their infinite wisdom, are not doing any curb side pickup of leaves this year. They all have to be bagged and they will be picked up on the days when they pick up the trash. I'll bet the phones at the town hall were ringing off the hooks when they made that announcement. LOL

Leaves changing and falling big time here! We covered the pool right before it started and covered the pond before it got bad.

Oh how I hate winter....

I'll second that, Dee. I'm beginning to understand now why many folks head to a warmer climate during the winter months. LOL

Well, I got more acorns and leaves raked up on the front yard today. I also had to brush acorns off of the sidewalk. I was afraid someone would actually slide on some as I almost did. LOL Katie also came in with one stuck in her front paw. The leaves aren't even changing color. The weight of the clusters of acorns on the leaves seem to be brining them down. Oh well, the squirrels are real happy and are digging deep holes on the lawn to bury the acorns. How will they ever find them with a foot of snow on the ground? I'll have to have a little talk with my buddy Squeaker about that. LOL

I know I have picture somewhere on the dang contraption called computer, but can't find them. LOL But I will say one thing Benji and Radar look like they could be related somewhere on the doggie tree.

Well, Cheryl you're just going to have to look for those pictures a little harder. LOL We would love to see them. Benji is a rescue dog and the most easy going dog I have ever met. Katie and he are real good buddies. They get along so so well together. I've doggie sat for Benji a couple of times and they are so funny in the house. One will sleep at one end of the living room and the other at the other end. Every now and then they will meet in the middle for a nose to nose meeting. LOL
