Lost Shiba looking for her home!

Kiricki Oct 14, 2009 09:26 AM

This is a cross post, from another list:

"Long story short, I "adopted" a female red Shiba Inu from the shelter in Wylie, Texas yesterday. Wylie, TX is a suburb of Dallas, TX, to the NE of Dallas proper. I feel certain there's an owner out there looking for her. We know Shibas can go quite a distance so she could be from quite a ways away from little Wylie and I don't know how an owner could track down all the little shelters to even look for a missing loved one. I'd be thrilled to keep her, more thrilled to reunite her with her owner. My vet says she's 7-8 years old which is not "senior" to me but maybe (probably) I'm in denial about that. (He said she might be a bit younger but she's only his second Shiba. I think he was appeasing me. She's 19.8 pounds. Heartworm neg; hookworm neg; now on preventative. Some thickening on the eye lenses to watch but not significant yet. Teeth need cleaned but no real problems apparent with them (a few missing, probably from birth). No signs of kennel
cough. General health good to excellent. Opted to risk over vaccination so she got a full set of shots today. She's here and safe and will stay so but she's sure depressed at times.

Given her overall health and no hookworms, she' been cared for and was probably already on preventatives and just in such generally good health, well mannered, obedient that someone clearly loved and cared for her. Her picture here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pjboosinger/4010040667/

I've already searched the internet but haven't found a missing entry looking for her yet. If anyone sees one, please email me at PJBoo9@yahoo.com (I won't miss it in the email lists postings at that addy). Please feel free to pass this along anywhere you think might help find the owner of this girl. Thanks for listening.

I've posted to the Shibaholics too so maybe, just maybe..."

I wonder if the vet has a scanner to check for a Home Again chip?

The woman who posted this is quite knowledgeable. I'm sure she would have made sure a chip was checked for. If she doesn't find the owner, she will be keeping the dog.
