Beautiful days

deetu Oct 21, 2009 07:59 PM

Past two days, it's been so nice that my doors and windows are covered by ladybugs. You open the door and you get hit by them, they are climbing all over. You try to push them off the door frame and more go on. Then you close the door and a couple get squished. I will find them hiding in the corners of my ceiling or flying around the light.
Ayla would smell them but they didn't seem to bother her.
I took pictures but can't get my camera to download to the computer.

Also since it's been nice, I was able to move some of those ferns (16 plants) that are growing wild into the place where I planted the hostas. I had three different ferns growing but wasn't able to find one, the highest. Will look for it better tomorrow. Ayla, of course, helped by sitting in the pile of leaves, chasing the cats and following me into the woods (she doesn't like the SkinSoSoft but knows she's going outside when I put it on her)

I also fixed the electric fence that came down three places in that snowstorm. Put lice killer on my goats. And transplanted some baby hollies.

AND, the day before, I finally finished painting my son's bedroom from when he moved out in December. I had it, the hallway and stairwell partially spackled before I broke my wrist so I am happy that is finally done. Ayla helped with this too by trying to paint with her ear.

Oh, and as much as I hate snow, I felt great those few days because my allergies weren't bothering me like they were a bit today. But it was a beautiful day!!

Wow, Dee it sounds like you've been one busy gal. We finally got a couple of nice days here as well. I've been trying to rake up the rest of my acorns before all the squirrels ruin my front lawn by burrying them in the grass. LOL I've never seen so many acorns in all the years I've been living in this house and it's been a long time.

Do you get all these ladybugs every year at this time or are they like the acorns? LOL Hope you'll be able to get your pictures to download. I would love to see them!!!!!

Take it easy tomorrow and give your body a chance to rest up.

No, no, no, can't rest, have to reinforce the lattice fence before winter sets in. It won't last another year. And cut, split and stack firewood. Oh, and put the new roof on the horse shed. Too much to do with this nice weather.
Also, the one part where the electric fence was down looks like a deer smacked into the fencepost and broke it so it has to be replaced.

I remember one year, my goats didn't seem too hungry when I went to feed. Then I heard an acorn hit the metal overhang on their shed and they all ran outside to eat it. I never had that many acorns off that tree before. The goats were so fat because of it!

Yes, seems like the ladybugs come every year.

Wow, Dee it sounds like you have many more tasks to do before winter arrives. I didn't know that goats eat acorns also. They would have had a feast under my oak tree. I left most of them under the tree but had to sweep up the ones on the sidewalk for fer of somone slipping on them.

Well, we had a gorgeous fall day here today so I decided to take advantage of it. As much as I hated to take up all my flowers, I figured I might as well do it on a lovely day rather that wait until it gets cold. I had a huge bed of Marigolds in my backyard and Katie was a big help getting those pulled up. She even wanted her picture taken in front of the big pile of flowers. LOL

Dee glad to hear you had some nice days. It was warm yesterday but today it was cool and gray but no rain so far.
I dread the cold, but snow so early was really surprizing.
I am thinking of going to New England again in a few weeks and it scares me to think of driving in the snow...I hope your nice weather continues for a bit.....

Denice, I think the snow will be fine in a few weeks, this was a freak thing. You should try to come up sooner, the leaves are beautiful right now.
