Here's Tesla's profile page on MSIR's website:

Fostering has been an interesting adventure to date. For Kita and Taiko it was not love at first sight. Due to Tesla's disability and the fact that she's never walked on a leash before, it made long walks in the woods getting the dogs used to eachother on neutral territory a bad option. So, it was trial by fire. And fire it was- poor Kita. Thankfully, all have come to a bit of a truce at this point. She's not adored by Kita or Taiko (she's far younger than the 18 months the original vet who looked at her stated). I think she's more like 9 months old and my two have little tolerance for teenage shiba antics.
Still, for the most part things are going fairly well. I do hope this little lady had a forever home by Christmas time. She's super sweet.
One of the reasons fostering is an option for us right now is my husband got laid off due to the improving economy (sarcasm). Recovery isn't happening in our area yet and we got hit a bit later than the rest of the nation. We all kind of needed a distraction and a way to break up the routine. This worked. Add to it our live in friend is still unemployed and due to that she decided to give her newly adopted Greyhound back to the rescue. It's different feeding a 10 lb dog vs a 70 lb dog and MN winters would have required adding some coats and such she just could not afford right now. Minimally Shibas come with that stuff. Nothing is ideal, but trying to make the best of difficult situations. Lots of change this year. All paws crossed we find our upturn soon.
I will try to get pictures posted at some point. We don't have a huge amount right now. Picking up the camera just isn't happening that much right now.
