Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy

KDiamondDavis Nov 16, 2009 06:37 AM

My black Standard Poodle Worthy, who is my assistance/service dog for mobility disabilities, seems to have this condition. I have a plan for dealing with it which I think is very likely to work. I wanted to ask if anyone else on here has dealt with this condition--with a Standard Poodle, or any other breed.

Never heard of this problem before your post. Read up on it a bit and found out it is a autoimmune problem and apparently is treatable. Also noticed is seems to effect Greyhounds and also German Shepards.
So sorry to hear you precious dog is having such a serious problem.

I've done more research, and it looks like Worthy will need some time for the nails to improve, but will be just fine. I'm glad I got him out so much for social experience before it came up. Spending a few months on an easier schedule is not likely to hurt his skills a bit. I sure love my sweet boy!
