My 13 year old chihuahua has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 heart murmur (coughing quite often). I would rather not treat him with the conventional heart drugs, as I understand that these can cause longterm liver damage, and may or may not be that helpful in the first place. Are there any herbal supplements that you recommend I give him, and if so, what sort of dosages/tinctures/pills do you suggest? Also, do you recommend bottled water versus tap water? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

It would be best to have him seen by a homeopathic veterinarian. Some other things you could do is to give him CoQ 10, Hawthorn extract, Ribose, Jiao gu lan, and feed him daily some raw beef heart. The exact amounts would need to be determined. Spring water or distilled water is good for avoiding toxins and heavy metals, but it depends on the quality of your tap water.
