2nd surgery for Abby-in 1 hour

peejpm Jan 22, 2010 01:37 PM

So, when Abby got up this morning she was closing her blind eye. I got her in to K-State and her pressure was up to 56. So, they are doing the chemical ablasion again. I am praying this works, so she can keep her beautiful eye. She did so well with the first surgery. I hope this works!

Abby did great in the 2nd surgery. I just pray that this one lasts forever! I want so much for her pretty eye to stay. I don't want to have to remove it. The doc told me at her last checkup (1 month from her first surgery) that if she made it past 3 months and her eye did not shrink or anything, that it would most likely stay that way. Darn! Didn't make it to 3 months! I was so excited thinking it worked. So, she will go back in about a month for another checkup. Last night I felt bad for her. She was so out of it. She was standing in the living room. Swaying a little, then almost fell over. Poor thing! She just would not relax and go to sleep. She was so happy and in good spirits this morning.

Thank you so much for your prayers and concern! I love this site!

Oh, ya.... her right eye pressure was 19. Up from 15 on Jan 4. I am putting eye drops in her eye twice a day.

Pam... I'm glad that Abby did well during the second procedure. Like you I hope this one lasts but we know there are just no givens when it comes these things. Other than the pressure rising did the doctor note at all if the eye has shrunk any?
The pressure reading of 19 is still a very good reading. Even though it was up slightly from the last check it could be from any number of reasons. As long as it stays under 25 Abby should be doing quite well.

Abby's eye was doing so well, it hadn't shrunk, scarred, or anything. I was so excited thinking it was going so well. But, unfortunately it didn't last.

Abby has such a wonderful friend in you. Hope this time it does last!

Any updates on Abby? I hope she's okay.

She is doing good. Her eye looks a little more "Glaucomic" I know that's not a word....but it looks blue-er than it did before. But, as long as it doesn't shrink or cause her pain, I am happy. We go back in 3 weeks for a recheck. I am holding my breath until the 3 month time is up! When I will know for sure the surgery worked and she can keep her eye. Thanks all for asking and being concerned.... we have a great family here!

300% of our positive energy is coming from Beni, Kari, and me (100% from each of us), that Abby responds well to her procedures, but no matter what, being in a loving home is the medicine of all!
