Mycoplasma

chdinah Feb 28, 2010 08:56 PM

Two of my bitches have missed the last two times I bred them, and everybody is talking about Mycoplasma and advising they be put on antibiotics. I'm aware that mycoplasma is pretty much always present, and that tests don't always mean much. I hate to put my dogs on antibiotics for extended periods, but I also hate not producing puppies.

Is there another way to handle the problem? Immune boosters? Any suggestions you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Have you had the dogs tested for mycoplasms? Before you think of treating it see if the dogs are infected. You might also test for brucellosis at the same time. One other thing that increases fertility and overcomes sterility is Maca. Start giving it to the dogs 1-2 months before they will be coming into heat. This should also help produce larger litters.
