REDLEG for white tree frog!?

mike7934 Oct 11, 2003 01:05 AM

Hi, i just got a small whites tree frog on tuesday. the frog is about 2 inches. he's eating and is active. I mist his cage in the morning, and in the evening. he also has a waterbowl to soak in. but the other day i noticed not on the underside of his legs but in the middle it was a redish pink color. it was in the insides of both legs. you can't see it unless he's crawling up the tank. is this normal, or does he have redleg. please help.
Thanks

mike.

this is a veryyy common question. your frog is fine if he is eating and soaking and his day/night time cycle is normal. redleg does not look that way.Pink on the underside is normal. what you need to worry about is hickey-like broken blood vessels on the underside of the frog,on his belly and legs. The broken blood vessel looking things are one of the last stages of redleg, and the animal will be dead within days or hours.I have 3 WTFs,and a RETF,and a horned frog, and they all have pink on their bellies. it is fine.
