i'm looking for advice. will Ribbons and Garters eat frozen/thawed sand eels? i might be wrong, but it seems like i read somewhere that they will. i saw some in a local pet store being sold as fish food. is this a good idea for a different food item or not? also, i have 2 wild-caught Eastern Garters. i haven't had them sexed, but judging by their tails i'd say they are male and female. recently, i was feeding them in a container in which i kept a female Northern Water Snake that gave birth. i did clean the container out before feeding. the female Garter ate normally, but the male refused and started acting really weird. could he have been detecting the pheromones of the Water snake? being that Waters and Garters are related could the pheromones be similar? i appreciate any help.
