P&G bought Natura

Lisha May 10, 2010 09:56 AM

Don't know howmany of you guys feed it, but it has been one of the only foods that both of mine do well on. I will never ever buy it again. Natura produces - Innova, EVO, Cal. Natural and probably another food that I am forgetting. Canidae maybe?

Don't know if this formula was pre or post the proctor and gamble buy out but a grainfree variety of california natural is coming out in June. I just saw the ingredient list for it earlier in the week. Its a whollllle lotta pea/potato w/ a little bit of meat for a premium price. Very disapointing.

I expect there processing plant to change and their ingredient list as well. This is very sad, crappy news for me. I have been a loyla innova person for years now. Innova senior was AWESOME for Tiko, My cats eat innova cat food..... sigh

back to wellness I guess - or does soemoen want to suggest something new?

That is sad news indeed. We've been rotating kibbles now for 2 years plus doing home cooking. Europa, Nature's Logic, Orijen, and Go! Now have been at the top of our lists for awhile. New ones come out that we want to try, but our rotation is solid and both are doing well. My kitty has also been on a soft food rotation for quite some time with her main food being Wellness, but many of the brands you listed were on her "will eat" list. With her I'm stuck because it won't do her any good if she won't eat it and not eating gets her in a bad cycle. She only now will try a bit of my homemade food- I make a salmon fish paste that she will eat. Yet, it's been an evolution that took 2 years.

When I hear stuff like this is makes me wonder why I still use kibble as a back up. I'm pretty sure as I get better at balancing home cooked meals, that will change.

Aww man. Well I'm using Taste of the Wild right now, Venison and Bison I believe. It's a grain-free formula. I don't love that it has chicken meal but both my dogs are doing pretty well on it. My local holistic pet food store recommended it. I got tired of ordering online. Good luck finding something new!

I hadn't heard that though I'm still using the Wellness Simple Food Solutions and rotating the different flavors. Have thought about changing foods from time to time but all three still readily eat it and it's supplanted from time to time with other protien sources.

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.

I don't recommend Taste of the Wild actually. We're about halfway through the first bag and over the weekend I noticed Hoshi has some really bad hot spots. Fur coming out in clumps and scabs underneath. I suspect from the chicken meal. UGH. Also Shiba doesn't seem to like it much.

Prior to Taste of the Wild, I had them on a bag of EVO Red Meat that Hoshi did better than ever on, so I just went and got another bag of that. I actually meant to get that again but I couldn't remember the name and Taste of the Wild was next to it on the shelf. I hope the EVO formula isn't so different from what it was two bags ago, but I double checked the ingredients and they sounded the same. No chicken meal at least. We shall see . Gotta get Hoshi's skin back in better shape before baby comes.
