Ayla is jealous of baby goat

deetu May 15, 2010 11:08 PM

I had a bad day last week when a Mama goat had to be put down because a baby was too big and got stuck. There was another baby behind that one that didn't make it either. So I lost a doe and two kids. But she had a really little guy first and he came into my house with a bottle. Someone adopted him but she had college finals so I kid sat for her.

Ayla kept trying to get it to run so she could chase it. It would hop and jump every now and then which would confuse Ayla. Had to keep telling her to leave it.
Ayla doesn't like to share me.

The last doe had two kids today. I was worried because she has had kids get stuck in the past but it was good. Both girls

What a sweet picture. How very sad you lost the mamma goat and baby.

Oh Dee, I'm so sorry to hear about the mama goat and the two kids. Does this happen very often? Glad to hear that all went well with the last doe and kids.

I've lost kids in the past but this was the first time I had to have a Mom put down. I've been doing goats for 9 years now.
Ready for a move )

You've been at it quite some time, Dee. That's sad that you had to put the Mom down. Will you breed any other farm animals?

The moving on is that I would like to move someplace without the animals in the back yard now. Thinking of the shore points.
Funny, the houses I seem to like are the ones in retirement communities and my husband and I aren't old enough to move there yet. Still got a couple more years in us.
I'm not even sure if my husband will want to move to one because old people live there but we will see what the Lord has in store for us.

I hear what you're saying, Dee. We have a senior center here in my town and let me tell you that some of these older folks can run circles around some of the younger folks. LOL They didn't get older sitting around doing nothing.

Too bad about the mamma and the two Kids but it looks like Ayla is being a good guard dog.
