Are Butterworms very filling? >>>

RedQuake Oct 11, 2003 01:40 AM

Hi All,

I got my first shipment of mealworms and butterworms yesterday. I've never ordered online before so this was exciting. I'm hooked now hehehe. I brought the package down here and i think my geckos are psychic cause almost all of them were out at either the glass or sitting in their bowls watching me.

I gave them some mealworms and two butterworms each to see if they would take them. Oh did they ever. I'm curious though, are butterworms very filling? I fed them all again tonight and Boo only took one butterworm (skipped the mealworms altogether) and only Dot finished off everything in her bowl. Everyone else just ate a few mealworms or one butterworm.

Thanks
Red

Yes they are kinda filling but.... I do say but.... they can be kinda addicting sometimes. I have some leos that love them and some that wont touch them.
Its ok to give them some but give them one everyother day and so one. They will get picky and not want to eat normal food.

Good luck,
Alicia

Waxworms and butterworms are NOT the same thing at all. Waxworms are addicting and not good to feed often, if at all. Butterworms are, from what I have read, a fine food for leos. I have never used them myself, but have seen them listed in leopard gecko books as a good staple for leos. I don't know much more about them than that, though.

Nope. I meant Butterworms. Yea i Know that they are somewhat good for leos but There have been occasions where me leos wont eat anything else but them and wont eat at all until I offer butters again. Waxworms are white and stuff butterworms are red adn yellow ang larger than waxies.

From what i've read butterworms are good as a staple. My geckos will only take one or two at a time though, so i guess they fill them up pretty good. I'm only going to feed them butterworms every now and then, while keeping mealworms as my staple.

Thanks to all who posted.
