Some hunters we have

kona63 Jun 11, 2010 06:43 AM

Last night we had a bird fly right into our house. Not one of the 3 mighty Shiba hunters even noticed! lol Actually I am very grateful that none of them especially Kona noticed the bird. It could have had a not so happy ending. We were able to get the bird out with all his feathers intact.

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.

I think they all have gone on strike... We have a wildlife refuge going on in our back yard. We have rabbits. moles, other such animals like them plus birds and we are finding deer droppings in the yard. All living in harmony knowing the mighty Shiba hunters are on strike.

Last night it seems the mighty Shiba hunter strike has ended. Took the pups out for the last time before bed and next thing I see is a bunny blur go past me with Kona hot on his tail. There was no calling Kona off the hunt. Poor little bunny.. The bunny did escape but not by much. I must say I was pretty impressed with the speed Kona still has. If Kona was a little younger, I think he would have got the bunny.

I never thought I would say this, but it is sad Abby cannot chase and catch a bunny anymore. The other day I looked out the window and saw 2 bunnies sitting in the yard eating the grass not a care in the world. And, Abby was outside! She has tried to chase them a few times and once I saw her run into the fence. She was not going too fast though. My poor blind baby! She seems to be doing a little better now. I can't wait to see her run again. I need to figure out a place she feels comfortable to run. I really miss seeing the gracefull leap!

WTG, Kona! Bunnies Beware!

Re: Abby-- That must have been very hard to watch, when she hit the fence.

Kari's m.o. is to slowly lift one paw, tilt her head in a jaunty manner, wait until said bunny is off guard, then burst into a full out charge...if not for the leash she and Beni would have a belly full of "Rabbie Stew" for their next meal. She seems as quick as she was at "almost 8" as she was at "almost 3" when she made our pack complete.
