Pet Friendly Hotel on Cape Cod

XODogs Jun 15, 2010 12:09 AM

I got to see the PHCA specialty packet while I was visting Sarah and noticed the host hotels were in the $100 per night range.

If there is anyone out there looking for bargain basement lodging, there is a pet friendly motel just outside of Hyannis.
It is about the same as a Motel 6 (of which there are none of on the Cape), but has a bit more amentities like pool, hot tub, breakfast.

It is American Host Motel. http://www.americanhostmotel.com/
Room rates are $32 - 1 King, $35 - 3 doubles, $49 - 3 doubles
plus $10 per pet for the 1st night, $5 per night there after.

I asked if they offered a block rate, but they said I would have to give them an idea of how many rooms. The max they would block was 30.

E-mail me privately if you are interested. I can compile a list and go in to see what discounts they would give.

This hotel is probably a 30 minute drive from the show site.
However it is 5 minutes from downtown Hyannis, which has a very busy main street with lots of night life.

That is so cheap Lori! Do bugs and clean sheets come with it? You know me, I am so use to the Ritz or the Park Plaza in London.

jmpharaoh Jun 16, 2010 09:37 PM

What a great deal. I can't justify paying $100.00 per night. It's not like I'm in the room the whole time! I'm usually there just to shower and sleep! Planning on driving the motor home as long as gas is under $3.00 per gallon. If not I may need one of those cheap rooms.

Marie,
In that case, you'd better bunk with me. The gas from Erie to MA. is between $3.65-$3.98. Are you guys under $3.00 in Ohio?

Gas is $2.48 in Birmingham, but I noticed while in Buffalo last May for Kati's graduation it was %3.05 there and that was cheap.

Lori, thanks for the info on the motel. I'm still undecided about the National and I'd need a cheaper rate to justify the trip.

Did not see any list for alternative motels in the packet.

Linda

you can try www.bringfido.com for a listing of pet friendly hotels throughout the world. As far as cost of rooms in The Cape they are not cheap until October or so, even then not that cheap. Maybe a cottage rental with someone else would work as an alternative? I know that lots of real estate agency help with rentals. Hope you find something that works for your budget and you can make the trip!!

You have no idea!! You have very good prices on gas! In sweden we pay 13.20 SEK per litre = 1.62 USD / litre

1 gallon = 3.785 Litres.. so I pay 6.16 USD per gallon!!!!

I wish I had the same price as you in the US! Europe is very expensive on gas...

>Good luck on your shows! I have not yet been showing my girls this year.. too expensive,.,.. But I will show them at our big sighthound show in Vasteras, Sweden in the end of July. It will be fun!

Yup, you're right. I was probably thinking Premium.

Linda and I are staying at the host hotel but we are sharing a room and will have Michelle staying with us if she comes. That way it cuts WAY down on the cost!

I stayed in a hotel in Boston (for one night) at one point that was so nasty that I wouldn't take my shoes off. Usually I wear socks around a room but this place was NASTY. I don't even like to think about the bedding in that place.

I won't take my socks off in any hotel/motel and I carry lots of hand sanitizer. I've stayed in some really nice cheap motels in the past and some really dirty expensive ones too! I prefer my own dirt, I love my motorhome!

Motorhome or motel, Meredith and I are bunking together.

Poor Merideth. Does that mean you'll be taking your socks off in the motor home?

Merideth can do what ever she wants! My socks will be on if it's cold. What's the weather like in Cape Cop that time of the year?

I'd have to say that a $35.00 hotel in that area would scare me. You can't get a decent Motel 6 for that. I'm thinking not only socks, but maybe combat boots as well

Linda T: Suggest you reread your specialty packet. There is an alternate hotel listed.

So, do you sock wearers in motels keep them on in the shower?

>>I'd have to say that a $35.00 hotel in that area would scare me.

Honestly, The American Host is not scary. It's sure not luxury. But it is clean. Bedding looked good. The only thing I saw was some scuffs on some of the furniture. It's at least as good as a typical Motel 6.. plus there is a good size fridge in every room. Plus they have a pool and hot tub.
I inspected the Motel before I recommended it and talked to the local police who said they do not have problems with this hotel as it does no long term rentals.

There is also an Econo Lodge right next door that also accepts pets and waives the pet fee for the Dog show circuit. They average $65 per night if you prefer a National chain. I also viewed the rooms in this hotel, and they are about the same as the American Host. I could not see what the extra money was buying.

MiaPharaohs Jun 27, 2010 08:19 PM

Does sound like a good alternative
