So Nice

MaxnCharleesMom Jun 19, 2010 10:50 AM

It is so nice to come over here after such a long absence and see everyone still here that I have known & loved for so many years! You all are the best.
Things have been busy for me and I am so thankful I have my boys to keep me company at the end of a long day! Max is really showing his age now, slowing WAY down. I started him on some medicine for his joints. Sometimes his little legs just give out on him. And I have started both these guys on Senior food. Nick will be 9 this year and I figured Max should be on it too. I hope it keeps Nick from having joint trouble. Kind of like preventative, you know?
I will try to check in more often. Everyone take care and know that I always pray for all of you.
Hugs,
Phyl

It's always nice to see you here as well, Phyl. I think that this time of year many folks spend a more time outside since they're not confined to the house with colder weather. We've had some fairly nice days but we've also had a LOT of rain. Katie and I just came in from a tour of my backyard and I think every tree and bush had grown at least a couple of feet or more. Think I'll leave the trimming back until the fall just in case we have a real rainy summer. With all the rain, I must admit that the grass is a beautiful green. but the drawback is that it has to be mowed more often,,,,,,which I don't do anymore.

I know what your mean about Max slowing down. Katie is fourteen and I can see a big difference in her as well. Her sight is very bad and her hearing isn't much better. She still has a great appetite though so that's good. She has been eating senior food for some time now. She still enjoys her walks though but at a slower pace and a shorter distance.

I know what ou mean about the walking. The last time I took Max, he just couldn't do like he used to. He is so much slower now. He still gets excited when I come home and jumps around to greet me, but sometimes falls down because his legs are not very strong any more It is sad to see them getting older. But that is part of life too...

Hi Phyl!
Yes, I know what you mean. It's not as full as it used to be but still a comfort.

I have Ayla on joint support because her one patella moves. I found a jerky treat she likes so it's not hard to give her. (the other ones had to be put in her food and so much stuff.. well, she wasn't happy with it)

((hugs))

Dee, this one is liver flavored chewable. But Max will eat anything, so it's not a problem.

I've been lucky with Katie. She will eat almost anything also. I'm not sure if that's always good or bad. LOL

Oh yea, I forgot that I was having trouble because Ayla is allergic to wheat, corn, chicken and beef. There are alot of products out if your dog doesn't have allergies
