Touvellep a question?

Shboom Jun 20, 2010 10:34 PM

Patty... I saw in the other thread Lisha had created that Beni continues to squint but shows now sign of blindness. Have you had him checked by your vet? This has been going on for some time hasn't it? I only ask because something like glaucoma is called the silent thief and can rob the sight in one eye and it won't be noticed if the other isn't affected. After all of this time I would still think a thorough exam of the eye should be in order.

On a side note... I broke my left wrist last Monday so I'm down for the summer as far as projects and golf goes. Talk about a bummer of a summer!

Bob, I was so sorry to read about your wrist!!! That really isn't going to make for a very good summer. I hope it's a reasonably simple break and will heal without complications!

Thanks Anne... I do to. Like Paul Harvey used to say... here is the rest of the story....

After work last Monday I was going to do the yard work and took the mower(walk behind)out of the shed and set the weedwhacker up to trim the yard. I have done this thousands of time before but this time had less than desirable results! Anyway... when I trim the yard I start at the opposite side of the yard and work my way backwards to finish back at the shed. Well this time for whatever reason I completely forgot about the lawn mower and stumbled backwards over it. At least it wasn't running... small consolation. So after hitting the ground my left hand was out in front of me and I looked at the wrist and said... you just broke your wrist! I picked myself up off of the ground and walked into the house... looked at my wrist and called my wife. When she answered I said can you come home? She thought it was one of the dogs and I said no... I just broke my wrist. So she hurried home and offf to the emergency room we went. They took xrays.. told me it was broke ... and put it in a temporary cast. The next day I had to go to the orthopedic office where they looked at the xrays and set me up for surgery that afternoon. The doctor told me several different scenarios and I told him I wanted the procedure that would have the best results down the road. He did the surgery and said he was able to get everything back to where it should be. So right now I have an external fixator coming from my forearm and attaching to my wrist keeping everything in place. I have a semi-hard cast or splint that is wrapped up in bandaging and I go for my next visit this coming Friday. Things are getting better though... it feels good and each day I have more mobility in my fingers. Consequently I'm out of work until whenever and my summer is now a bummer for my golf. I have a long road ahead of me but whatever the doctor wants I'm going to do... I need to get this rigth again.

Just one of those accidents that comes along every once in awhile to show us we aren't really boss, maybe?? Next question....who is going to do the yard work now? I hope you are right handed, because that should help at least a little! Can you drive safely? Notice I didn't just say "can you drive?"

Seems I recall that maybe you do quite a bit of work with church youth, or some such.......will this affect any big plans along those lines?

Again, I really am SORRY!

No church groups or organizations for me... just golf in the summer.
Yep... just one of those things... you get complacent and then wham!
Yes... I am right-handed so that does help. I recruited my wife to do the yardwork... I don't what she is complaining about. I do bring her some water and stale bread...lol
Yes I can drive and safely if need be and have done so.

Ouch! What a thing to have happen. Sorry to hear this and hope you heal up fast and whole. At least you didn't fall over one of the dogs and have to take someone to the vet also!

Hey Mel... what's shaking? Good to see you here!! Yeah I suppose it could have been much worse and more than one person has asked if I tripped over one the dogs. The dogs would never do such a thing... can't say the same for the mower anymore!
