Bekki called this morning to say that Uber made it through a very difficult night. In true pharaoh fashion, he is hanging in and fighting with all his strength using that stubborn, strong PH will we all know and love. It will be a long recovery but physically and financially.
Please understand as much as she would like to speak personally with each of you who have called to offer support and express concern, she simply can’t right now. Bekki who an Air Force nurse can not receive or make calls while on base. She is at work today. Bekki is totally appreciative and encouraged with your ’buddy checks’. Please try to be patient and understand she does have restrictions but will get back to each of you as quickly as she can. Understandably her time and attention is on Uber and the rest of her pack. Again, her most sincere ‘Thank You’ to all. She’ll keep us posted with Uber’s progress.
Please continue sending healing vibes and your prayers. Uber and Bekki are aware of them... and need them.
Back story … Bekki lives near Stone Mountain a few minutes drive due east of Atlanta with her pharaohs, Trey, LaLa and Uber as well as Bridget who is a Chihuahua mix. And Cobalt a rescued silver tabby cat-boy. Her neighborhood is busy and residential with smaller lots. Her 6 ft wooden fenced backyard backs up to a natural uncultivated, wild greenbelt. No humans go there - just birds and smaller woodsy critters. That is part of the charm of her place - no backyard neighbors. Out the back door and after the first flat 50/60 feet or so of lawn, her property drops off sharply into a ravine with a seasonal stream. The slope is too steep to mow so it is covered with native vegetation. All of Bekki’s back yard is fenced with the stream well beyond the fencing.
On Tuesday night, out for their final potty of the day, the girls (LaLa and Bridget)quickly did their business and came inside but the boys (Uber and Trey)encountered an enormous copperhead snake. Speculation is that the first strike hit Uber’s shoulder, he turned to look (WTF??) and the second strike hit him in the mouth (possibly open) followed by another strike to his shoulder. When Trey came to assist he too was struck above his eye. Thank Heavens it missed his eyeball itself.
With the three hard and fast strikes, it seems dear little Uber received all the venom. Trey escaped with puncture wounds and bruising. The next day Bekki found copperhead snake dead near her back door -- most likely killed by Trey.
She heard a dog scream and through the door came her two bloody, mouth-foaming dogs. Uber started to stagger. Bekki scooped up both Uber and Trey and rushed them to the e-clinic. First thing Wednesday morning, Uber was transferred to the Specialty Clinic where he remains in intensive care under 24 hr watch. How long Uber will stay is unknown at this time.
Updates and comments are being documented on Facebook. As of noon today Atlanta time, the vets are seeing slight improvement but improvement nonetheless.
Thank you all.
Sandy

I asked the doc what she thinks and she said, she thinks it's safe to say we are AT the bend....
