2010 National Lure Coursing premium list

ssipperly Jul 07, 2010 09:22 PM

Finally, AKC has approved the National lure coursing event scheduled for Sept. 20,2010 in Falmouth, MA. The PL are out in the mail. Anyone who is not a PHCA member and asked for a National packet should be getting one as well. If you need one mailed to you please contact me by e-mail
PLEASE NOTE: We are offering 2 JCs at this event. The second entry that comes in your packet is for the second JC only and needs to be filled out separately if you will be doing 2 JCs. There will be NO day of trial entries taken.
The PHCA web site is still under construction so no new information is on there at this time. If you want to download the coursing PL go to PHONE's website. Julie has already set it up there with the rest of the National forms. Stephen

Confirming that no QC is being offered. So those with new hounds who want to compete in the trial should get a QC on their hounds before the National. Correct?

Carmen, Yes and no. We are offering a QC however PHs earning their QC on Sept.20, 2010 will NOT be permitted to run in the trial that day. All this will be in the PL. Stephen

Thanks, Stephen. So, this means, for those that have brand new coursers, you must find a QC test before the National to be eligible to run in the trial. Luckily, you have plenty of time!

The QC is new this year. For those who aren't sure about it, it is explained on page 25 in the rule book:
www.akc.org/pdfs/rulebooks/RELURE.pdf

The JC is no longer needed to run in a trial. It's just a fun extra title you can get. Under these new rules, I see it as a proof of instinct for those people who don't want to lure course, have no competition locally, or want to postpone lure coursing until after a show career, maybe?

>We are offering a QC however PHs earning their QC on Sept.20, 2010 will NOT be permitted to run in the trial the same day<

Is this because of AKC regulations (a dog cannot receive a QC the same day of a trail)?

If so, Is it possible to have the QC run and certification the day before for those who would like to qualify their dogs and then have the opportunity to run in the Trail the day after?

It is so difficult to find QC in some areas of the country and this could be an opportunity to give also other dogs who live in remote areas a chance.

This is an AKC event so it has to comply with AKC regulations. The LC course will be set up day of event. There is no possible way to have it set up and have a judge the day before. There are many other events planned for Sunday. Your PH can be run with a JC or QC that the dog has gotten prior to this event. Stephen

I understand... but do you know that before the event to get a QC certificate some people who live in big States especially in the midwest and west have to travel thousands of miles! One thing is to travel for competition and another one is to travel for just a certificate.

It is too bad that one cannot get the QC certificate the same day of the trail and then participate at the trail itself. It does not take too much time at all and it could be a test for the equipment also (LOL).

This could be also another incentive and opportunity to participate at Specialties and Nationals for some people.

Oh well... there is always another time!

I suggest you let AKC know. You should contact the performance dept.

Hi Alvaro,

The committee gave this alot of thought and the final decision was to allow new lure coursing dogs to run for their JC and QC Titles.

A wonderful honor to achieve at a National Specialty Lure Trial.

Further, as a committee we wanted to ensure that we had a concise pre-preprinted catalogs listing all the competitors as well as any advertising and congratulatory pages. To offer the new JC and QC Title Holders the opportunity to run the same day of the National Trial would mean that we could not supply this catalog as these new title holders would essentially have to enter the trial the same day AFTER achieving their new titles as the AKC does not allow us to accept conditional entries. Further, it is strongly recommended that new JC and QC title holders practice in more than the runs that are required for JC and QC Titles; this is all about the safety of the new running dogs and the seasoned dogs they are running with.
The National Specialty weekend is jam packed so setting up a separate course the day prior is a burden to the committee who will already be swamped with Straight Racing and Setting up for the Eastern Banquet.

Best,
Dominic

A lot goes into planning a national specialty. Wishing you and your committee members the "best" in all of your planning.

Hoping you will get full support from everyone.

Best,

Linda T.

Bekki:

I think Stephen has posted PHONE's site in the past but below you will find the link.

http://phownersne.weebly.com/

Also, ANYONE please correct me if I am wrong, not all at once please but if a hound has run in an ASFA event sucessfully they do not have to QC?? Again I may have this backwards as I just QC'd Senna and was told I did not have to cert him for ASFA.

For the HRVHA LC premium list it would be best to contact Lynn Kaier at lynn@culiath.net and she can send it to you via e-mail. This is for the July 25 LC event.
