PHCA Newsletter

MiaPharaohs Jul 23, 2010 12:14 AM

I had several bounce backs on the latest newsletter due to the size of the file. I have since broken the issue down into 2 different documents and resent them. If anyone still has trouble opening the files, please let me know.

Hi Pam -
Going forward, maybe there is an opportunity to "post" the newsletter on the (new) site instead of sending it out and then just send out the link to everyone - or a notice that says its been posted. That may reduce bouncebacks as you would not be sending the content just a single line address... And, it would increase traffic/reason for membership to visit the site more than maybe current habits may dictate.

Just a thought : )

I think this is a great idea... and not only you can view the Scribe on the PHCA web site, but there could be the possibility to also download it to your computer as a .pdf file.

If necessary, club members should have a username and password to be registered to do this on a secure area of the web site where only registered members can access.

What gets sent out now is already in PDF format and has always been posted in the members only section. Since that is the section that is currently being restructured, it will not be available until the revamp is complete.

The only problem I see with that Maura is that sometimes Carmen has to deal with "real life" and might not be able to get it up on the web for awhile. However, I think a reminder to members that it does get posted to the website would be a good idea. I am going to try to create future issues in 2 sections, so that I won't have to try and rebuild it the way I did this time.

I was so tickled to see the article from the Dachshund newsletter in there!!

Or, at least to me it's from the Dachshund group as I had it shared with me a little bit back by a Dachshund lady.
We're in a nosework class class, she with her little wire coat girl me with my RR boy. Thankfully she still sees me as a "hound" person and eagerly brought it in to share.

Thanks to all who helped put the scribe together! It's a lot of work but it is appreciated!

Actually Sian's a PHCA member here in the Southeast. She hunts regularly with both her Dachs & her Pharaohs.

I too enjoyed the article on the "hunt". It reminded me of my earlier days when I did hunt with dogs. Although I've never hunted with my Pharaoh Hounds, I truly enjoy the idea of it. I could visualize every thing she said as a true experience.

I no longer hunt prey, but still enjoy the thought of the hunt with the dogs, as my own wooded back acreage has plenty of wildlife and my dogs enjoy finding any little thing they can flush out of fallen logs and dead leaves.

I didn't get a newsletter. I didn't even know we had one. I must have been one of the bounces.

Ours came through fine. It came last night while I was watching tv so I just downloaded it on my new Droid Incredible and read most of it on that. A few of the pictures didn't come through but all the text and many of the pictures were just fine. A great idea and save a lot of trees. People who wish can print it or store it.

Great job.

I too read it on my phone. LOL!!!

Actually, if something can't be done on my phone it goes to the very end of the list... I use a computer at work and I use my computer for schoolwork and for bills/placing orders. I really appreciate not being tied to my computer. So do the dogs, they never did get the hang of the mouse and forget the touchpad.

Mine came through just fine...in fact I received two exactly the same. Then today the two left out pages came. Remember when mine came by Pony Express?

Thanks for all the work you do to get this out to us
