How are you?

Hello All,

It's been over 2 weeks since we've heard any news.....We hope it's because everyone is busy having a great summer. Beni, Kari, and I have just been walking, exploring, and relaxing. We'd love to hear how you are and what you are up to. We look forward to hearing/reading from you soon!

Nothing special to report. It's been a hot summer and Murphy doesn't approve of that at all. He loves his day at PetSmart Day Camp each week. It's cool and he has so many good buddies, both two legged and four legged, there!

No I don't! (hot weather)

Yes, I love it! (Day Camp)

Hello!

We love Murphys's comments and we're hoping to get some insight....
How long have you (Murphy) been going to Doggie Day camp? Was it difficult to be around all the other dogs? How do the pros deal with aggressive behaviors? Beni and Kari aren't candidates for daycare, but we always love to hear how our fellow Shibas are doing.....

Hi Patty, Beni, and Kari--

Mom told me I could answer your post, 'cuz I know even more about day camp than she and Dad do. I've been going to play, every wednesday, for more than four years now.....ever since I was only about 8 months old, and I just super love it! Mom explained to me about "pros" and "aggressive". She said pros were the neat ladies that watch over us and pet us, and make sure we have our rest time and all that. We don't ever have any unfriendly dogs at day camp. They don't allow them to be there. If a dog doesn't play nicely, they have to go to time out. If it happens more, their moms and dads are told that they can't come back.

Besides my play day, every week, whenever Mom and Dad go away on a trip, I get to sleep over. It's just like day camp, only I stay all the time til they come back. It's not scary at all, because there are always two nice ladies that stay there all night and peek at us now and then. I'm always glad to see Mom and Dad when they come home, but I sure do have fun while I'm there. If you ever want to know more things, just ask. I love to write on this board!

Your friend,
Murphy

Fast summer for us. I really enjoy reading everyone else's posts and wondered why it was so quiet here!

Abby is doing ok. I can't wait for cooler weather so we can go for walks at night. I feel bad for her because she doesn't run like she used to. I did see her pounce a little the other day in the back yard and that was great to see. We have a Shih Tzu that is 8 months old. He is starting to bark at Abby a lot. He wants to play. He does not understand that she cannot see him! It is so sad to see her tail wagging like she wants to play with him, but he moves so quickly she can't really play with him. She will pounce and he will be somewhere else! I hate seeing her like that. I am hoping she will get a little more comfortable and play a little more with him. Or, she will get mad and bite him! She will be laying there asleep and Petie will come up and start barking at her. It will scare her. She puts up with a lot from him!

I think dogs can be pretty perceptive. Perhaps he will begin to catch on the the fact that she doesn't see him, and will adapt h is play accordingly. I know that must be so difficult for you, although I also know that I really have no clue as to how very difficult it is.

I have heard that dogs figure out that one is blind and will sometimes become a "leader".... however, I have also heard that Shih Tzu's are really dumb dogs! Ha ha! I love my Petie, he is a little dumb though! We just laugh and say "she can't see you!" "stop barking at her!" hee hee
