Shiba's and Fox's

kona63 Aug 02, 2010 06:25 AM

Ok so it looks like my guys will no longer be allowed in the yard unsupervised. We have a fox in the area. Maybe I am being a bit overly cautious. The fox is using part of our yard for his kills. I am concerned that the fox could go after Kaia. Dont think Kaia would know how to defend himself. Kona would go after the fox. Kiko would put up a good defense. Any thoughts on this?

David, could you get animal control to put up a safe trap in your yard that could be set after you take the kids out for bedtime and left until morning? Or, is there perhaps one you could rent and then turn the fox in to animal control?

I sure can understand how you are feeling. It's scary for the other dogs, but Kaia is pretty small, isn't he?

I sure hope you can solve this soon, it's sad to have to take away their yard privileges when they haven't done anything wrong!

Dave this is really surprising about a fox coming into your yard. I would agree about calling animal control. You're not exactly in a country setting and should the fox be sick it could attack a person. Something like that just happened here not long ago and the fox attacked and bit 2 people before it was shot and killed.

Hello,

How is the fox situation? We have been worrying about you since we read about your situation. It's ironic, people are constantly stopping me to ask if Beni and Kari (shibas in general) are foxes and now you have a true fox problem. We're hoping you all are safe....Let us know!

Hi Dave--

I've been wondering how things are going, too. Did you contact animal control, and were they able to help you? Please keep us posted!
