Hi Folks,

Can't believe another National Specialty is almost upon us!

For all of those PHCA members who would like to nominate an individual for the Annual Eastern Honor Award given at the Eastern Specialty Banquet, please ensure that you send it to me by September 1st. The Award is determined by a majority vote of PHCA Members. Last year's recipient was Bonnie Folz. The nominee must be a PHCA member. One vote per PHCA member is allowed.

Thank you Dominic! So for clarification, other than being a PHCA member, what are the other criteria, ie...do they have to be from the east?

Also is it open nomination or are there certain people running for this award? If yes to the latter, is there a biography of what that person has done to be deserving of this award?

Last question I THINK, can previous year winners get it multiple times?

Hi Bekki,

It is an open nomination. There is no slate of people "running" for the award. The only criteria is that the person doing the nominating be a PHCA Member and the person receiving the nomination be a PHCA Member. The PHCA Members nominated do not need to be from the East Coast. The PHCA Member who receives the most votes from Membership receives the Award...quite simple actually.

Last year the Committee felt that this award would be a great way to recognize those members in our Club who exemplify an extraordinary commitment to the Pharaoh Hound Breed. The criteria can be anything from a hard work on the rescue front, hard work on specialty committees or just a generally nice person who is always willing to help out at ring side or on the Lure Coursing Field.

I may have missed something in understanding this process - so , I apologize.
Once you receive the nominations are you seeing who received the most nominations - or - are the nominees that have been submitted by the members then voted upon?
