This is the puppy in Arizona Carmen. Not sure if it's a PH or a Cirneco, but Shawna is following up and Cirneco rescue has been alerted. Thanks

Oh, good news! I must have missed an earlier post, sorry! Not on this forum as often as I used to be. I'm glad this little puppy is getting help.

Sure has PH ear set. Not quite square enough body for a Cirneco.
Just have to say that it drives me nuts to see so many dogs listed at Pharaoh Hound mixes or just plain PH on Petfinder. What are these rescue groups or shelters thinking? Erect ears do not make a PH!!
I agree with you about the number of so called Pharaohs but from what I remember of the photos, all of the dogs had upright ears, pink noses and the correct color. At least, it seems to me, someone has at least looked at a ''real'' Pharaoh hound photo/info, to be able to make the comparison. Right or wrong, I'm glad Pharaoh rescue is able to help!

And normally, we can pretty much tell from pictures whether or not it needs a physical ID.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I wonder if it's, a little bit, a marketing thing. An exotic mix might make these poor dogs more appealing to the general public. I don't mind, too much, if this helps some of these poor dogs get adopted. It's surprising how often I get e-mails from folks with photos, asking if their dog is a Pharaoh. When someone asks me, I'm honest, and say how hard it is to judge a mix and how unlikely it is that there's a Pharaoh in the mix. However, I also go out of my way to tell them how beautiful their dogs is and try to add a specific detail that I find especially pretty!!
One thing we can continue to do is use the flyer that PHCA has on its site: www.ph-club.org/IdentifyPH.pdf. It does need to be updated with the newest PHCA Rescue Angels, but the identifying information is correct. I rarely have to do a shelter visit (last time was actually a Cirneco) but I always bring several copies of this flyer to give to the staff there and will bring one of my dogs in case they want to see a live PH.
