Allergies!!

zeusygoosey Sep 13, 2010 09:02 PM

Hi again. I have 110lb German Shepherd/Rottweiler with severe allergies (to what, I don't know). All over his skin he has numerous spots that are now black but we once red, oozy, and then flaked leaving a bald spot with a black spot. I understand from previous posts you stated that they healed and leaved a black spot. He has also had dozens of ear infections. For what reasons I don't know either. Is it because of allergies? He's been acting very lethargic lately. Doesn't want to play. Please tell me what I should do! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. Also, any people with German Shepherds, or any other dogs with advice please swing it my way. I need some help. Please

The combination of skin problems, ear infections, lethargy and overweight makes me suspicious of a thyroid problem. I would suggest having a thyroid panel run. If everything is fine with the thyroid, I would need more information to diagnose your dog's problem, but look at the thyroid first.

I'm taking him in on Monday to get a thyroid panel run, but what I want to know is if there is any holistic alternative to the thyroid meds they would put him on if he was in fact hypothyroid

There are some possibilities, but let's get a diagnosis first.
