Keiko has passed away....

Shboom Sep 24, 2010 02:28 PM

In spite of my best efforts to help Keiko it was just to much for the little guy. He had a very bad day yesterday and it only got worse during the night. His age... his kidneys... the cancer were just to much to overcome. In the end his kidneys had given out and it was time to say goodbye.

My little Keiko-man... I still remember the day when Valerie sent me your picture. It mattered not that you weren't a perfect dog. I just knew you were perfect for me. You were always the funny one... the clown... the Brooklyn Boy.

You may have had a rough start to life but your life was in your soul and you brought so much happiness. Your eyes always had so much expression even after turning whiter over the years and in spite of your handicap it was only age that finally slowed you down.

I'll miss you my funny little Keiko man but you'll always be with me and never forgotten. Thank you for your undying love and may God Bless You.

Dear Bob,

I just reread Curious Shiba in Shiba Tales. I could tell that Keiko was such a wonderful, silly, mischievous, and ultra intelligent dog, one that could put a smile on your face AND be the star of a delightful story in a book. Thank you for sharing with us. You and your family continue to be in our thoughts.

Winona thank you. I believe as you that our dogs await us for our next reunion. I pick Keiko up tomorrow and bring him back home. I have a mahagony urn that will sit here on my computer desk next to my other two dogs so he'll always be near.

Fighting back tears thinking about what you are going through. Prayers are with you and your family.

Thanks... I still remember going to pick him up at Val's and having him run out the door and do that little twirl in the air. I knew then that I was the lucky one.

Oh Bob, I am so very sorry for your loss. No words can express our love for our best friends, and no words can console us when they leave.

I know Keiko knew how very much he was loved and what a great second chance at life he got with you.

RIP Keiko. My little Tiko will help you over the bridge, you 2 will have a lot fun together being young and pain free running together.

Lisha thanks.... Teri tried to tell me once many years ago about Keiko.. the start he had and the condition he was in. I told her I didn't want to know because he did get a chance at a better life with me. I hope by now that he has found Tiko... they'll make fast friends for sure.

i have just revisited the story of Keiko and Tiko, what an amazing group of humans to give such a tremendous amount of love to our little Inus. Young or old, good health or not, what you give and learn from each other is beautiful. Your stories and posts have changed many peoples lives for the better. Thank you for keeping this post going and for sharing your stories.

Hi Meg and thanks. It's getting a little better but you know I still find myself tearing up at times. He was the first of my rescues and the special one because of his story. I had mentioned before that it was because of Keiko that I found this site when only you and I and then Chelle were the only ones posting here way back when.
