did you let them see each other first? you should always do that so that you can gauge their receptiveness.............

i showed them to each other a couple days ago. opened his cage door and everything. he just lookad at her but didn't puff up or fired up.
currently she moved over to his side of the cage and he went to the top of his cage and is slowing moving around the top mainly, s=or seemingly to stay on the same side as she is. she has lost most of the dark makings she had earlier and now that he is moving around he is colorful but not puffed up as he was when she was first placed into his cage. as i type he is hangin upside down making his way to the same plant she is on.
what type of behavior is not condusive to their mating? with the behavior i have described is this considered normal? or should i seperate them? this is my "first time"
with chameleons lol) as well.

It's probably cause your male is maybe a little too young still. He's like 5 months right? Usually, the male will either open his mouth, which means get her outta there pronto or he'll bob his head up and down or side to side to get her reaction. If she doesn't get dark or open her mouth, it's usually ok. With panthers, you don't usually have to let them see eachother beforehand as much as you do with Veileds. I've only had 1 violent incident while mating panthers, and I've had about 50 matings take place. With my veileds, I've had about 50 violent encounters and only 1 mating take place. But I got lots of pictures of it! Usually males will be ready a little before 6 months of age. He may just be nervous and not know what to think of her. Remember YOUR first time? Nervous, huh?!?!

i pulled her out after about 4 hours. my boy is 6 1/2 months old. i think it's the whole "older women" thing, it's not exactly what he wants but....if it's anything like MY first time the boy is going to need some beer goggles! lol i'll try again at the end of the month.

when you show the her to him, he should "fire" up, or head bob, or some sort of display........it doesn't sound like either one was ready to me............
