Kiko is 9 years old today!

kiko63 Oct 11, 2010 05:39 PM

Kiko is 9 today and Kona will be 9 on Sunday. Wow has time flyed by! They still act like they are 2. While i am writing this Kiko is having a wigging out time. (She runs around like a goof ball) in and out of the house up and down the stairs. She is a crazy girl.

Dogs are doing well except for some allergies for Kona. He is always licking his feet, all the time!! Drives you crazy. Had a dream the other night that smeone was walking up and down a hallway with loud shoes and woke up to kona licking very loudly. Was weird. Ready to put a cone of shame on him!!

Sorry we havent been posting that much. Been kinda crazy lately. We tend to linger daily to see whats going on but that is about it.

I will try to post some pics soon.

Wonder if we can get enough people to do another calendar?? Forum seems to be kind of slow lately.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIKO... You know 9 is the new 7 in the Shiba world. May all your doggy wishes come true on your special day!

We also love your pics! Who is/are the superstar/s of your photos? It sounds like your Kona and my Kari have a lot in common w/their licking.....it's quite distracting. Do you have any advice on the obsessive paw licking?

On the 3rd note, I would love to be part of the calendar, but I am so computer challenged that it took me about 5 hours to send the few pictures I did. I am willing to try again, but I can't promise any great results...

Dave and Joanne... you are soooo right... time does seem to fly. It's hard to believe how grown up our Shibas have become over the years on here.

Happy Birthdays to Kiko and Kona with many more yet to come.

I was thinking about the calendar the other day and wondered if enough people were still around to send photos.

What a beautiful girl she is! Happy Birthday, Kiko!!

I hope there will be a calendar. Even if we have fewer pictures, it would still be great. Just takes 12 dogs to fill a year, if only one picture per page was used. Just a thought.

Happy Birthday Kiko! You are BEAUTIFUL! And, so young looking

Abby will chew on her paws. She even crunches sometimes! I think she is trying to get the mud out. No problems with licking too much though.

Abby would love to be part of the calendar this year!

Have a great day!

9 huh? Wow!

Yeah, the forums are slower. No longer any naughty pupy antics. All of ours have been growing up and although entertaining, they just aren't causing the trouble they one did.

I'm in the planning stages of getting my next dog/puppy. New one HAS to be a female, but I'm so open on age. I also can't do anything until next summer. Plan to foster again though soon. A tough experience, but rewarding in the end.

To All Of You Who Raised a Shiba Puppy....

How Did You Do It???!!! Beni was app. 4 and Kari, 4 1/2 months later, was 3 when they rescued me. Their energy was WILD. I thought mine was, too....I soon found out that it took all of my energy to walk, work, walk, and walk them...all in one day....I was told that these pups had A LOT of energy, and boy was that an understatement. But, I wouldn't trade one second of every morning,afternoon/evening in the rain, fog, wind, and heat that we shared together for all the tea or coffee in the world. And I have a strong feeling that you all agree!

Why do you think we do agility? I now love it, but we started it because it wore the dogs out like nothing else. That "shibas need 30 minutes of exercise a day" is absolutely the bare minimum and that even for my 11 year old shiba! Any less than that and she's tough to live with. Taiko needs a solid hour of GOOD exercise a day- running.

Shiba puppies- it's been a LONG time since I've had one around, but I do recall keeping them entertained and such was a chore. A pleasant chore, but a chore. Not sure how we'll get through it again, but now I have young kids to help me out in that department.
