Zane Grey is home again

Tetreault Oct 14, 2010 07:03 AM

Just to let you know he is home and it looks like he will be okay. The injury is not pretty. The pin is protuding outward and will need to stay like that until it is time to remove it.

Apparently he removed his hood (cone) while at the vets and had worked on his incesion and ate some of the flesh away. I know it will leave an ugly scar, but hopefully there will be no limp and he will be able to compete in the future. I don't know if he will heal up with a while spot on his rump, but if he does, I don't care. It is better he is able to walk correctly than limp or remove his leg.

Best,
Linda T.

Thanking all 3 of you. He seems to be doing okay. I will be driving him to our vet Monday for a check up to see how that rod thing sticking out of his rump is doing.

My husband is home with him all this week and the two of them seem to be doing okay with his needs.

It is a blessing that Andy can be here to watch over him for me.

It will be 4 weeks today he was hit by the truck. btw, the woman who hit him actually called my vet to see if he lived. Go figure that.

Hoping that Zane Grey continues to show improvement, and that he experiences a full recovery from his injuries.
Best wishes,
Rebecca

Zane Grey had his 4 weeks check up and an x-ray today. His bone is healing very well. Dr. Wright stiched up his gapping wound which exposed his flesh.

The rod or pin had worked up about an inch out of his hip and he sedated him and put it back in place. He will x-ray him again in 2 weeks.

He was pleased with Zane Grey's recovery.

I know this will be a wonderful thing once Zane Grey is healed.

Zane Grey is a great dog and companion. It is nice to know those who really care about his well being and my desire to make him better so that he will be able to live an active life so many Pharaoh Hounds desire.

Zane Grey is a very special small male who is willing to please me and track down lost dogs. He is truly a remarkable animal.

He is out of Ch. Kamlyn's God of War, SC, Fch. (Aries) x Ch. Senbi's Catch me Lucky Charm, SC, Fch. (Sassy).

Both of his parents are remarkable animals and have won wonderful awards in the Pharaoh Hound group of dogs.

Thanks,
