Hachi: A Dog's Tale

Shboom Oct 15, 2010 10:34 PM

For those who can get the Hallmark channel this movie is being shown Saturday night at 9pm. I watched it 3 weeks ago and it was a good movie. It is an updated modern version of the true story of Hachiko. Hachiko was an Akita who was adopted by a Japanese professor back in the 1920's. For years Hachiko would accompany his master to the train station to see him off and return every afternoon to meet him on his return. One day the professor dies at work and for the next 10 years Hachiko returned every afternoon to wait for his master. He finally passed away and the Japanese people erected a statue in his likeness to honor this Japanese legend.

This movie stars Richard Gere and Joan Allen. The unique thing is they couldn't find the right Akita puppy to play the young dog so they used a Shiba Inu pup instead.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the info, we now have something exciting to do tonight! Also, it has been very cool and "autumny" a perfect night to watch Hachi......I heard that we better have tissues ready, though....

It's a really good movie, but tissues handy might be a good idea.
