Legislative Alert - Los Angeles, CA

theanimallawyer Oct 22, 2010 10:55 AM

The Los Angeles City Council Public Safety Committee will soon be voting on a proposal to increase the pet limits in the city from 3 dogs per property to 5 dogs per property. If the measure passes the committee, it will likely proceed to the full council very quickly, so residents are encouraged to contact all city council members and ask them to vote in favor of this ordinance.

Although AKC opposes limit laws, we believe that this proposal is a step in the right direction and we encourage residents to express their support to the members of the city council.

What You Can Do

· To have your brief, respectful statement included in the public record, please send a copy to the Public Safety Committee staff member at John.White@lacity.org or fax it to the city clerk at (213) 978-1027.

· Contact the members of the Los Angeles City Council and ask them to support increasing the pet limits.

Robert,

Don't you think that there are so many dogs and cats being turned in to animal shelters that the council decided to change the numbers so that citizens will be able to adopt more pets and keep. I'm sure there are too many and the shelters are over flowing and they want to place all those purebred animals in home instead of killing them.

I agree, 3 is no that many. Too think I have 10 at my home and I manage fairly well. Wish I could get rid of those pesty squirrels.

There will be a meeting at the Shelby county Commissioner's meeting Monday Night at 6:00 p.m. to decide if there should be a change in the definition of "kennel". The lawyer said it cannot make a difference as stated.

Please forgive all those typos. I had a really rough day at Macy's One Day Sell. Fun times at work.
