Thanksgiving Pumpkin Dog Treats

Time01 Nov 10, 2010 05:08 PM

Time to start firing up those ovens and get Thanksgiving going. LOL

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 tablespoons butter-flavored Crisco
1/2 cup pumpkin, canned
1 whole egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine flour, cinnamon and nutmeg and cut in shortening. Beat egg with milk and pumpkin and combine with flour, mixing well. Stir until soft dough forms. Drop by tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Let cool and serve.

It sounds delicious, Cheryl. I might even be able to eat a couple of these treats.

Cheryl, do you think Oatmeal flour will work just as well instead of wheat? Ayla can't have wheat and spelt flour bothers her after a while too.
Thanks for sharing

Oh I sure it would, never tried it but as long as it is flour consistence, it would be the same. I know you can use rice flour.

Give it a try and let us know how it tastes.

Yes I do try a bit of dog treats as long as they don't have anything yucky in them. LOL

Katie loved the Nutro Ultra Soft Sticks. I liked them too because I could break off a tiny piece and give it to her. She didn't care how big it was as long as she got sonething. She enjoyed those for fourteen years.

Lol, I used to work in a pet store and alot of the younger employees would try the natural treats. The one looked like white Oreo but they said left a garlic after taste
Thanks Cheryl
