Sunday in AZ

nile Nov 14, 2010 08:28 PM

Another beautiful Fall day in AZ. The second day of coursing went well with Shauna's athletic and lovely Rory barking her way around the course to take BoB again. MeToo finished only two points behind her...not bad for an old lady of 10 years. An Afghan Hound got BIF.

Arizona Whippet Club hosted the event today. Yesterday our host club was the Desert Fun Bunch. Entries came from as far as New Mexico and Nevada and the cowboy polo ranch where we run provides food service for very reasonable prices - very nice to have breakfast and lunch available at the field.

It was a gorgeous day out there!

One would think I might be lucky enough to have a tired Pharaoh Hound after all that running -- but evidently the short crate rest in the van while I had dinner was enough to give her a second wind -- she's still bouncing around the house playing with my guest pit bull youngster. Even Legend, the veteran Rottweiler is not exhausted after 2 days of fun runs after the trials...he's not bouncing, but he's not sleeping either!

It was great to see you out there Sam - and it's so nice to have other Pharaohs out competing - wish I didn't seem to have the loudest and most obnoxious on the line though! MeToo really looked great all weekend!!

(it was a Saluki though that took BIF today -- I missed his BIF run (trying to keep my dog somewhat quiet (HA!) before her run)...but his first run of the day out there was absolutely gorgeous!)

It is a nice venue and a nice group of people here -- hopefully others will make the trip one of these days to join us out here for future trials!!!

Cool that you guys still have nice enough weather to run the dogs. Congrats. Pharaohs, in my experience, are never TOO tired for anything.

You are right Shauna- it was a Saluki - Jazz, owned by Lori from Las Vegas if I remember anything right at all about BIF. I missed watching that runoff too.

I think the barking while running thing is kind of funny - I wonder how they can do that. I could never even jog and visit at the same time no matter how hard I trained.

Awarding a BIF either day was a challenge for the judges.

Tentative plans for an ASFA Region 10 Invitational are in the works for next spring so please keep DFB and Black Canyon City in mind.

Forgot to mention there were two Cirneci visiting on Sunday. I'm hoping the owners will decide to get involved. It's great to see some of the rarer breeds coming out for a good time - there were several Portuguese Podengos (Grandes I believe) at the trial, it was fun to see how they run (very well and very enthusiastic).
