It went really well. Brewster, for those that don't know him, is an abnormally laid back Shiba around people. He is almost lab-like. He is a super friendly affectionate easy dog...except with other dogs and vets (or anyone in scrubs). Typically, as soon as we get in a vet's office he goes crazy. He did not at the new vet. His tail went down, but he seemed to be cautiously optimistic. haha...When we got into the exam room and the vet tech tried to look at his collar or something he snapped, so we did put a muzzle on him to be safe. However, once the vet came in he had such a soothing way about him, Brewster calmed right down.
Unfortunately, in the state of NH a rabies vax is required. Anything else is not. We only did the rabies, as much as the vet wished we didn't have to. If we lived in MA we could have done the titre, but NH does not allow it, I guess, and there is a big serious process if you do not do it (including fines and visits from state officials. haha). I was surprised since this state is usually "live free or die."
So, with Brewster's history of seizures close to the past vaccines he suggested we do not give any heart guard for a couple of weeks, as it lowers the threshold for seizure activities in dogs that are prone. He also gave an herbal supplement called "Thuja." It comes in a little pearl.
Anyway, no seizures today, but Brewster is not himself. He's definitely not feeling well (lethargic, won't even get up for a treat). He looks like he has a hangover. Hopefully he doesn't have a seizure this time. He has been seizure free since our last vet visit (2 yrs ago, I think it was!).
