Thanks, Kim! Same back to you and everyone. Everyone who is traveling, be safe. I'm hoping for a non-white Christmas and warm weather but hope those that love that white stuff get your share.
Make sure all the dogs get something extra, too. I ordered my kids a case of thoses Merrick sausages that were in the Nat'l hospitality bag - the dogs love them!

sitehound3 Dec 24, 2010 10:50 AM

Yes, Sheila, Champaign County will get 2" today and 2 more tomorrow of that white stuff. I still appreciate it in those quantities. Gracie the greyhound thinks it is great fun to run in it--but, then again, Gracie thinks it is great fun to run period. Even more fun to chase Bo...but I digress...

Merry Christmas to all; may we all a happy and prosperous New Year! May all the Pharaohs smile, blush and play, play, play all the days of the year!

P.S. My dogs and our dog friends will be enjoying a box of Merrick beef taffy. I'll have to pulverize it for the two rescue senior borzois a friend recently adopted. Those 2 poor fellows are toothless but happy to be in a warm home.

Alane, I talked with a friend of yours last weekend at the Jackson MS shows. He'll be sharing a picture with you. He is a delightful man who truly enjoys judging obedience and breed.

Thanks for letting me know. I will have to keep an eye out for the picture.

Hope you and the family are well.

Happy Holidays..

Merry Christmas everyone...from cold and snowy Minnesota! My dogs are getting two cases of Bully sticks, treats from the Real Meat Co. and new squeak toys. Actually, every day is like Christmas around here

In case any of you have wondered about Asher...I have great news. With the help of a holistic vet, we have his autoimmune disease under control. He has gained most of his weight back now...from 32 1/2 lbs to 50 lbs. He will always be on a special diet, lots of supplements and acupuncture once every 4 or 5 weeks.

We are very thankful to see Asher in good condition after a three year struggle Thanks to everyone who prayed for him, and encouraged me along the way. I could have never gotten through this without you!

Winona, glad you are all managing through another white winter in MN. I'm delighted to hear that Asher is doing well. You know he will always have a special place in my heart.

Winona Dec 26, 2010 04:36 PM

Sheila...I'm happy you found my post! I was thinking about you when I posted it I need to email you a recent picture of him. He's such a sweet, special boy,and was so determined to live...if he had not had such a strong will to live, he would not have made it. My vet takes his entire record, with pictures, to every seminar...he's her miracle dog. Vets all over the U.S. studied his case, and tried to help us.

Greetings from Leavenworth!!

Sending holiday greetings from the warmth of my computer room with the backround noises of snoring dogs and bitches. So much better than the noises they were making earlier in the week.....we had a nasty GI 'bug' go through them...one by one of course, and this morning is the first that hasn't involved me running to the door every few minutes or getting down on my hands and knees to clean up the mess. I kept telling myself, this will pass and it did...to the next dog in line!! I was really worried when Great great Guandpa Gunner, who turned 15 earlier in the month took his turn with the crud but being the stubborn old fart that he has been from day one, he always insitited on eating his 3 small meals a day. Kay always said, when a K'Azar dog doesn't eat, that is when they die....and you know, she was right!! I've not seen a dog from her breeding that didn't like to eat....anything and everything 24/7!! Stomache ache be damned....it's time to EAT and Gunner knew I was 10 minutes late with the food bowl. I guess that was a good sign that his appitite was still there. The others turned their noses up at food for 24 hours and just slept through the worst of it but slowly started back on a very bland diet. It was a nasty bug tho and I really can not remember in 40 some years of dogs, ever having anything quite like this. Vets ruled out all the major problems ( parvo for example ) and said it just has to run it's course through their gut. I've been bleaching the small dog yard...I closed off the big yard....to kill off any of those nasty little bugs that might like to live in soil. The grocery store must wonder why I would by a case of Clorax the week before Christmas.....

My daughter works weekend nights ( 12 hours (bleep)fts ) in a local hospital, so dinner will be postponed until later in the week when she isn't in daily sleep mode. I will just putter around the house and enjoy the blessings that are sleeping near to me and wishing the same to friends across the miles

Glad your kids are all on the mend from that nasty bug - how miserable for everyone. I'm thrilled to hear that grand old Gunner is still eating everything he can! Enjoy your celebration with your daughter when you two get together.
