barking

My two dogs have an almost pavlovian reaction to any noise or other distraction outside the house, usually resulting in loud barking, jumping on the furniture, etc. I try to separate them if I see the mail carrier coming. If one is in her crate, the other barks less. They seem to feed off each other this way. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Years ago I figured out a method for dramatically reducing barking that really works. A lot of people have let me know it has worked with their dogs, lots of different breeds. It has worked for my current dog, too, a previously frequently barking Standard Poodle.

This method takes time, but it does not cause any bad side effects. Punishing in particular can cause bad sad effects whenever you're trying to change a behavior. This method uses very specific rewards, and it works! Here is the link:
