I found a small red eyed turtle

tnj318 Oct 11, 2003 11:50 AM

I recently found a turtle crawling through the parking lot of my work. I had never seen a turtle like this anywhere. He had some yellow on his shell. He had a beaked face like a snapping turtle. He had a tail like a RES. He also had red eyes. They were like an albino rat's eyes. They were completely red. I live in east TN. I don't know if he was aquatic or land. He was just crawling along. I thought he was very interesting and just wondered what he was.

hmmm did it have a domed shell like a helmet or was it flatter (like an RES)?

About how big was it? Did its head look to big for its body? was it mostly yellow or mostly another color with only some yelllow on it? Did you pic it up? Did its underside shell have a hinge?

according to the state these are the turtles native to tennessee:
