wry bite

jbaylor Feb 08, 2011 01:43 PM

I am new to this site, so I am hoping I am in the right section. I was told by my vet that my Wheaten puppy has a wry bite, which seems to be making her jaw more pointed. Was wondering if this is common in this breed. Also wondering if this could of been passed on to her if the parent(s) had it and if she could pass it on if she was ever bred? Any information would be great. Thanks
Jean

Hi Jean and welcome to the Doghobbyist! I don't know very much about this condition but have heard about it. I think it has something to do with one side of the jaw growing longer than the other?

I don't know about other breeds, but I know it can be genetic in Shelties. I wouldn't recommend breeding her, even if she didn't get it from her parents and it's just a random mutation, it still might be inherited by the puppies.
