A morning outside in the sun

georgio Oct 11, 2003 02:05 PM

Hi everyone. I snapped a few pictures of my beardies that I thought everyone would enjoy. We all sat outside in the sun and had breakfast. I'm so glad it's warm again here in Southern California...and from the looks of it so were my dragons. I only took the older ones out so that is why there are no pictures of Pyro, Citrus, Alien or Coral (Coral's older but she gets a bit freaked outside). Hope you all like the pictures and have wonderful weekends!

Peter

Casper showing off his new pink beard:

...and how he can turn it black:

A happy, sun loving Lava:

Wizard saying: "don't mess with me" (anyone ever notice BD's will show their beards more often outside?)

Light orange Monarch:

Popeye, my oldest male (Casper's much bigger however)

A very happy and cute Pumpkin:

And one more of Casper (didn't realize I took so many of him) most likely just about to try and escape from his outdoor cage:

Cooling of big time here in New Jersey not going to be too many days to take them out at all. Actually most of my adults are either brumating or just about too. There all popping their heads out now and then for some water, and vitamins, but not much eating at all from some. All keeping nice weight so I'm not worried too much. First time brumating for almost all of them.
Yeah some of my males mostly freak and beard up when outside. All they need is a shadow or even me peeking in on them and they spook a bit. You plan on breeding Peter? You have quite a few awesome dragons I would love to have some babies from. Wizard has some stunning color to him. Looks like he was dipped in paint. I've seen another dragon from the same breeder as wizard with the same intense color. They all look good Pete, and you got quite a variety of colors as well. I like them all.

Thanks Matt! Yeah, I've been using a heater in my garage at night to keep the temps above 60 because it's been fairly cold here and the garage is not insulated very well. Must have to use a lot of supplementary heat on the east coast huh? I have never cycled any of my dragons but probably will in december or january. I think I'm going to breed at least one pair (Wizard and Pumpkin) next spring. Probably won't do any others at first just to get a feel for how much time it will take but then I may breed Monarch/Lava and Casper/Coral, or possibly the other way around just to see what happens. If I do more than one cross I want to keep them all unrelated and possibly do a F1 cross of my dragons. Here is a picture of Wizard and Pumpkin...I'm pretty sure at his rate of growth Wizard will be big enough at 1 year old and Pumpkin is already 16 months. Your planning on breeding next spring as well right? Which dragons?

Those are the ones I was hoping you would be breeding first Yes, I'm going too breed as well next season. Started getting a lot of the supplies already so I will be prepared, and won't go nuts the last minute too make things work. Got racks too build still, but got a lot of the light fixtures, bins, bulbs and fluorescents I will need. I think if things go according to how I would like Foster and Candy will go for next season. Not sure though cause I got another extremely large female GG I might use with him as well. They have a possibility of producing nice large, healthy babies as well, and Candy might go with my hypo pastel Buddy. I just think the contrast of the bright orange in Candy might be interesting with Buddy's hypo pastel coloring. The best female of that clutch I would love to cross to a Baby pastel I got this season which I think would produce a few awesome hypo's as well. Either way whatever happens I'm not planning on producing many the first season. Starting slow as well. As you can tell I'm rather undecided, lol. Quite a few people would like to see Foster and Candy's babies. I will enjoy any babies I'm able to produce depends really on who is up for the deed. If it was up to Foster he would have been a dad this season

I just realized that your site was the first place I went when I was first researching dragons and is part of the reason I decided to get one. I especially like the pictures of you and Teo on vacation.

Wow!!

CheriS Oct 11, 2003 07:26 PM

Most really do love a day in the sun, we have one also that freaks out when he goes outside, we have no idea why, but he squats down and is scared to death so I have to hold him if he is outside.

And a few love it so much they will hiss at us when they know we are going to take them back in. There are certainly diverse!

georgio Oct 11, 2003 09:12 PM

Thanks CheriS. Yeah, they definitely have mixed reactions to being outside. I've noticed the smaller ones are generally much more scared so I don't take mine out but some older dragons are really freaked out as well. They seem to be getting more used to it with time however.

May I ask what morph Wizard is, and is Casper a snow? Also wanted to say all of them are beautiful. Thanks.

Thanks Yes, Casper is a snow dragon from dragons den. Wizard I bought last month from Satyrday reptiles, he was one of their holdbacks. Glad you liked the pictures.
