i'm not sure i know what gambusias are. type of insect? fish? i would think they are ok. i have given my alligator snapper wild caught fish and crayfish before. he has shown no signs of being unhealthy.. he is 3.5 yrs old now and has a shell almost 12 inches in length. you can also feed him pellet foods. mine eats reptomin, and trout chow. mine also eats worms ( nightcrawlers) and crickets. now that he is larger i also feed him thawed out mice.
Gambusia (genus) is a type of fish commonly known as "mosquito fish". Thanks for you imput on the subject.
Parabuteo
mosquito fish are fine, alligator snappers an eat just about aything. I feed mine feeder goldfish, minnows, freshwater snails, and occassionally raw, thawed out steak, chicken, and bacon. he also likes clams, canned tuna, and salmon. mainly just make sure that whatever you feed them isnt conaminated (fish and bugs could have pesticides, and meats like steak and chicen could have growth hormones).
