Future breeder for '04...CORONA ~*PIC*~

Leo Lover Oct 11, 2003 03:08 PM

Here is my only holdback that I produced this year. At almost 6 months old, she is certainly turning into a beautiful gecko. The orange is starting to seep into her body color in certain areas.

I have gotten lots of compliments on her and I have even had a few people ask me if she was for sale! LOL, nope she isn't, but her offpsring in the future will be.

Let me know what you all think!

That is absolutely ridiculous! That price is so cheap for her! *shakes head* I just cannot get over that! I was advertizing a beautiful gecko on the classifieds not all that long ago and now she's sold. I dont know who it was, but someone offered me a very low price and wanted her for $20 shipped! I never replied back to the person. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous.

I actually saw her (your gecko) posted on a few classifieds. I LOVE the design on her tail! That is sooo cool! I 'had' a male that had an abberant/jungle like pattern on his carrot tail. He actually sold along with a female. Both of those geckos are now living out in Washington state. A small part of me misses them, but I know that they went to a loving home and the person was just thrilled, amazed, and just in LOVE with those geckos. That makes me so happy to make a customer happy.

I cannot wait to see what Corona will produce in the future!!!

Asking $20 shipped is just being silly, it would cost you an extra $20 or so out-of-pocket just to ship, and the leo would be free. They probably weren't trying to be rude, they were probably just undereducated. It's probably some kid new to leos. No one who knows anything about shipping leos would even ask that. If I were you I would just explain that to the person who inquired, nicely. They obviously are young or new to leos and don't understand that just the shipping costs breeders $35 to $40 (though many swallow some of the extra cost in the price of their animals). But everyone starts in their interest with herps at some level of knowledge, someday that person might grow up to be very into leos and more experienced, especially if people take the time to explain some things along the way.

I know, it was probably some kid who thought they could get a high end gecko for a "deal" Next time it happens I'll explain, but I just disregarded the email. Oh well.

I guess if they want to spend that kind of money, they can go someplace else such as a pet store. I just want all my geckos to go to loving homes where the new "mommy" or "daddy" are going to take good care of them, and give them everything they deserve. I think all leos deserve a good home, and DO NOT deserve to be treated like disposable pets or people who think its funny to blow smoke in their geckos face/enclosure. Thats terrible and very sad.

I saw one like her on someones site for 200 but only difference was it was a Baldy!
My husband suggested I ask 125. for her.
I"m used to fat tails as you know Ross so leo's are not my priority but then I dont want to under cut myself.
Any ideas?

leave us all hanging!

Corona...a beautiful girl...and an interesting name.

I had a dragon named Martini - she earned that badge of honor when an associate at work had one too many Martini's at lunch and then ran screaming (and tripping) from the room when she opened the box and that "Horrid beast" jumped out on her. Poor Martini, she only wanted out of the box, she didn't know she was going for a roller coaster ride!

Haven;t talked to you for a while - so, HI!!

Perhaps next year I will see one of my Leos gracing your website.

Of course, I would love to have Corona#2!!

You know...you can always email me and give me the low down...I can keep a secret....honest....

I will be starting a website soon. www.StarlightSpecialites.com . Can't wait to see it finished. My designer is doing 6 others right now, so I imagine the going will be slow. I had made all sorts of pages in FrontPage, but couldn't figure out the button/page linking or how to get it online, so I sought out help. (sigh)

I'll be waiting for that news....

You could probably get much more than $40 for that leo, $40 is a steal. Some people will ask you to come down in price no matter what price you set, as a matter of course, which makes it difficult when you set prices on the low end to begin with. If you had asked $100 (a very reasonable price for that animal, she could be priced even higher, like at $130 or so, though the orange on her is not great, she is a super hypo), and came down to $80 they'd probably think they were getting a great deal (and $80 would be a very good deal for that leo).

her clutch mate is fabulous and a keeper.
This is an old photo of her clutch mate. I'll have to update that soon because she shows more and more red on her tail with every shed. Absolutly beautiful and a baldy now to boot!
She has not a spot on her head or body now. In this one you can see the faint spots on her back but they are no longer there.
