Want a Ferret

earwiggy Mar 19, 2004 04:00 PM

I want a ferret really bad. I know what it takes and am fully ready for it. My mom won't let me get one. I know this sounds REALLY stupid, but does anybody have an arguement I could use against my mom? I don't know anything about their personalty besides "they are very social," and "they love fun." Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Casina

Number 1 if you want to have an argument you need to be well educated on ferrets. They are alot of work and are considered a high maintenence pet. They are not caged animals and must be allowed out to play 4-5 hours per day at least, and must have a roomy cage to be in when they have to be. Why does your mom not want you to get a ferret?? It would be easier to come up with an argument for if we knew what the argument was against.

I have done more research and know what they require.
My mom says they look like weasels and weasels are bad creatures. I think she just doesn't want me getting another pet.
If you could help, that would be awesome.

My biggest concern is that you say that you have done all the research on them but you posted in your first message that you know nothing about their personality. Ferrets are alot of work and they are not caged animals. They need at least 4 hours per day to be out of their cage and playing. Ferrets are completely domesticated and have been that way longer than cats. The ferrets that are kept as pets could not live in the wild and depend upon humans to look after and care for them. You can always tell your mom there are hyenas and wolves and coyotes in the wild and they are "not good" as your mom would say about ferrets but people stil have dogs. So as much as weasels can be mean the ferret is a domestic animal. I would still reccomend that you do some reading and research on them and if your mom really does not want one in the house then maybe waiting until you have your own place would be a better idea.
