New to Ferret Owning!

TANZEE Apr 23, 2004 02:29 PM

Hey, my friend just got a ferret yesterday and he has some questions that need answered.
What is the average life span of a ferret?
What all can a ferret eat?
Please don't re-direct me to a website because I find so much contridictory information on them.
I'll leave it at these two questions for now!!
Thanks for your help!!

Ok their average lifespan is anywhere from 6-12 years and there are alot of good quality ferret foods out there. Totally Ferret, Zupreem, Sheppard and Greene as well as some really high quality kitten foods. NOT cat but kitten. Read the lbels should be very high in protein and fat. Stay away from fruits and veggies, ferrets cannot digest them and some can actually cause blockages. Make sure that your friend is also giving a hairball rememdy. Please do not feed a ferret dog food. Dog food is missing alot of the things that ferrets need to stay healthy.

Hey thanks for the info you guys! It's good to know about not feeding dog food because my friend was mentioning that he was going to do that, because he had known someone else who had.
Thanks again!!
