adrenal disease

Lost a ferret to adreal disease not to long ago don't know how old she was for sure but at least seven she was a hand me down - down so no idea what her life was like before us. Would like to kno wmore like what is an average life span of a ferret and is there anything you can do to prevent adrenal disease in the next couple. loved her greatly she lived for peanut butter heard though that this was bad for her is that true or not? any help would be awsome thanks a bunch

There is really nothing that can be done to prevet adrenal disease. It is one of the things that is common in ferrets and they are not sure what exactly causes it. Peanut butter is not bad for ferrets if given in small quantities. The average life span of a ferret is 8-10 years. Sorry to hear about your little one!

I lost one to adrenal disease as well. We paid a bundle for the surgery, and it went well, but she died in her sleep at the vet that night. =( Its a risky thing, but some survive the surgery at least.
