So I know that pine and clumping cat litter are no-nos as ferret litter but how about shredded aspen? I get big bails of it that I am using anyway for my reptiles and was wondering if it would work for a ferret as well?
Thanks.

The only thing that should be used for ferrets as far as litter goes is; newpaper if you want to paper train them, the pressed wood stove pellets or yesterdays news, feline pine etc. Anything else is too irritating to all their sensitive spots.
I agree. I also use aspen for my hognose and blue tongues.

Thanks for the quick responses! Ok I'll stay away from aspen and use one of your recommendations or possibly Care-Fresh.
i use aspen and wood pellets. unlike wood pellets, aspen doesnt disinigrate when wet, causing messy wet/dry 'sawdust' like materials (yes, i scoop it everyday) however the aspen gets kicked out of the cage more. unlike cedar/pine, aspen doesnt contain the phenols/acids. i also use aspen for my hedgehogs.
