URGENT!!!!! Ferret might have adrenal disease i think

metallicarox Nov 17, 2004 07:25 PM

Hi i posted a month or two ago about bubbles's hair loss on her tail and thanks to katusha and weasellvr's advice about soaping the tail it went away. But now she has patchy spots missing fur. They aren't noticable but i found out about it five minutes ago while i was giving her her monthly bath. She still has the biting issue so it might be because of that and thet're in relatively the same spot. I know it might sound like I'm being over catious but if it is adrenal disease i want to find out as soon as possible. I wont be bringing her to the vet till after Christmas cuz my mom said people would be bringing all their pets in now for shots cuz there going away at Christmas and it would probably be too hard to get a spot, but if it sounds like adrenal disease then i'll bring her in asap, if i bring her in and it says she does is there a surgery or medication for it and if so how much. She is also starting to grow black hair where her soft white hair is. I have one more question...I bought one of those Marshall drying sacks for her and it says they love 'em but Bubbles tries frantically to scratch her way out of it. So my question is should i stop putting her in it because it might cause stress or do they always do that. I'm sorry if my questions sound stupid but this is my first ferret and she's my baby.

Def sounds like shedding. You can help it along by plucking the loose fur. Also, don't forget to give plenty of lax so your baby doesn't get a hairball.
