Update on Daffy's insulinoma

Katusha Dec 15, 2004 03:01 AM

Sorry I haven't been around much. So much to do with the holiday season, work and all. I would just like to update Daffy's health. She started off on .5cms of pediapred twice a day. The improvement was really something else. She stayed on this dose for a month. Since she was doing so well, the vet lowered it to .3 cms. This is her 2nd week on the lower dosage and she's still doing fine. I have been giving her the meds in the chicken soup recipe that is on the other post I had for Daffy. She and Jasmine (her sister) love it. If I'm just a little late giving her the meds, she is at the door of her room waiting for me! LOL! I'll be taking her in at the end of January to get a complete blood panel. We want to make sure everything else is doing fine. She's also put on a couple of ounces. She had lost a little, so she needs that. She's still a little thing though at 1.2 lbs.
I just thought I'd let everyone know Daffy is really doing well. It still amazes me the difference this med can make. I know that she hasn't had this long, but I'm hoping we'll be able to keep the dose low so we can avoid the side affects of the pred for a long time. I also have a bottle of Karo syrup on hand just in case.

I'm glad to hear Daffy is doing well and that she & Jasmine both like the soup. Yeah, pred does amazing things for these little guys. Give the girls scritches for me.
