i have three ferrets that are in good health, 2 are males and they have i lot of weight on them but my girl is slim, very active eats fine. I was wondering what could i give her to help get her some more weight on her.
Thanks

You can try giving her a little heavy cream as a treat or give her supplemental meals of soup/gravy but honestly if she's a healthy "whippet" type ferret she probably won't gain anything significant. My DEW girl eats like a horse but stays right around 1.5lbs. She's 7 years old and has never been sick a day in her life so I don't worry about her svelte figure.

I think cream is good too, but I wouldn't worry about your girl being small. My Daffy is 1.4 lbs. She's 7 yrs old this week and her weight has been like this since I got her when she was 1 1/2 yrs old. As long as she's eating well and not acting sick, I wouldn't worry about it. Now when Daffy got insulinoma, she did go down to 1.2, but now she's back to 1.4. The other ferrets I've had over the years usually, but not always, gained weight over winter. But when summer came they lost it. My boys all gained about 1/2 lb during winter but lost it during summer. Out of the 6 girls I've had, only one weighed 2lbs, the others were 1.5 or smaller. Holly, the 2 pounder, was just a bigger ferret all around.

thanks boths for the adive. I feel a lot better about her weight. Looking at the two males and her its looks weird. I weighted her earlier today and she was weighting at 1.8lbs, so i am guessing that is not to bad. About how much to your male(s) weights? Are they a lot bigger then your female(s)?
Anyone that has a Male and know the weight i would be greatful is you posted it. Thanks a lot.

I've only had 3 boys. My biggest, Moose, weighed 3 lbs, Dandy weighed 2 1/2 and my sweet Basil was just under 2 lbs. Ferrets are all different with their weight. I've seen boys that were 5 lbs. And a few little girls who were 1.2 lbs. My Willow, the albino, was bigger than Jasmine. But Jasmine was heavier. Jasmine was rock solid before she got the enlarged spleen. She is very hard to scuff because she has more muscle around her neck and her skin is tight. She's small in size, but weighs more. I usually weigh mine about once a month or so. Like I said in my other post, my boys did put weight on over the winter, but lost it when it warmed up.

Thanks
Both of my males are 3.3lbs and they get to run around a lot. So i was wondering is i was doing something wrong. Now i really don't feel bad compare to 5lbs.
