hi all, i just got my second ferret that i have had (last one i had over a decade ago). I have a collar on the little guy but wasnt sure if i should only put it on when he comes out or keep it on at all times (dont want to risk an accidental hanging in his cage... thanks

although I don't have any ferrets at the moment I have had them...love the crazy critters...I wouldn't leave the collar on if I were you as you stated you could risk accidental hanging...and if it isn't yet it will soon get used to having the collar put on and taken off...

actually, there are breakaway collars for ferrets so that if the ferret should get caught on something, the collar comes off if they squirm. Having a collar on a ferret that has free-run of the house is smart. the little bell tells you where the ferret is and if god forbid it gets loose out of your home or comes off the lead, you should have a tag with phone number so your ferret can be returned to you.
