I am Starting to get Worried

ASK May 30, 2005 09:32 PM

Most of you have read my other paranoid entry but lately my ferts have not been giving me kisses, playing with me, and they even run away when I approach them (I think that may have to do with the fact that when I go over to them at 10 or 11 PM I am putting them away and they would much rather sleep in my clean clothes than in their hammocks) They have never been the crazy fuzzbuts I always hear about and I am starting to get worried. I would really appreciate playtime, ferret bonding, or ferret stimulating ideas. Thank you sooo much for listanening and I will try to get some pics up soon. Oh yeah my ferrets do not play with their toys either. Thank You again.

It usually takes some time for your ferret to bond to you and her personality to blossom. Also, not all ferrets give kisses and some only kiss who they want. My DEW girl loves to play with me but will not kiss me to save her life. She'll smooch on my fiance` every chance she gets though, little hussey. LOL

When your ferrets run from you, chase them. It's one of the ways they play. Sometimes I chase mine, sometimes they chase me. You need to relax and learn to enjoy your fuzz.

I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.

every night my fuzzies would get ferretone...good supplement and they all seem to love it...I would give them it right before putting them away for the night, they soon learned which cupboard I kept it in, if they were out playing and I went into that cupboard they would come running to get it...so I did not have to chase them around to put them away...

how long have you had them?? it will take time for them to adjust...ferrets do not necessarily play all the time...I used to let mine out to play, which they would do for a period, then they would just wander around sniffing anything, then they would go under the couch and fall asleep...sopme play more than others...playing with ferrets is more of you learning to play with them when they want to play...not often will they play unless they are in the mood...hang in there and give it some time

How many kids do you have, what are their ages and when was the last time they were seen by a Vet? Are the current on their shots?

How much play time are they getting daily and do you play with them, or only let them out and put them away?

What kinds of toys do they have to play with? What is their diet and do you give them such things as Ferretone and Ferretvite?

Here at the shelter all the kids were trained to respond to a squeaky toy until we got one in that totally hates the sound it makes, so we're working on another means of getting their attention.
